  1. Heavy investment bet
As an important participant in cross-border e-commerce, Wildberries is well aware of the importance of logistics construction and has been actively expanding its presence.
Recently, Wildberries announced that it will invest approximately 11 billion Russian rubles to build a new 140000 square meter logistics center near Minsk, Belarus. It is reported that the logistics center will start construction in 2024, covering an area of 27 hectares, and is expected to create 5000 to 6000 job opportunities.

The reason for choosing Belarus is that Wildberries' sales growth in this market is very strong. According to Tatyana Kim, CEO of Wildberries, the market sales of Belarusian products are expected to increase by 140% by the end of 2024, with total sales exceeding 2.3 billion Belarusian rubles.
More importantly, with the continuous development of the platform, the group of sellers in Belarus is also expanding, with an annual growth rate of over 20%. Currently, there are over 15000 sellers selling products on Wildberries.
Kim stated that the construction of the new logistics center will significantly improve Wildberries' logistics efficiency in the Belarusian market and expand its local business layout.
In fact, not only in Belarus, Wildberries has made significant investments in logistics for many markets. For example, at the end of last month, it was reported that Wildberries would invest over 7.6 billion rubles to open a new logistics distribution center in the Yurga region of Russia, and construction has already begun.

In detail, the distribution center is expected to be officially put into use on July 1st this year, with the capacity to store over 37.7 million pieces of goods annually and transport and process over 313 million pieces of goods. Overall, this is currently Wildberries' largest logistics center in Russia.
2.Vigorously develop logistics
As is well known, it is necessary to do a good job in logistics to develop e-commerce business. Especially as the industry becomes more mature and various platforms become more intertwined, logistics speed has become one of the key factors determining the success or failure of e-commerce platforms. Therefore, not only Wildberries, but many e-commerce platforms have been vigorously developing logistics in the past two years.
For example, in order to optimize the "last mile" delivery service, Shopee announced at the end of December last year the establishment of its first logistics center in Manaus, Brazil, to meet the logistics needs of regional sellers and consumers. With the completion of the logistics center, the time for consumers to receive goods is expected to be shortened, and customer satisfaction will be greatly improved, thereby consolidating its position in the Brazilian e-commerce market.

This is not Shopee's first foray into the Brazilian market. Prior to this, Shopee had stated that it would establish six new logistics centers in the states of Minas Gerais and Bahia, with the aim of expanding the last mile delivery range, demonstrating its determination.
In addition to optimizing the 'last mile' service, platforms are also laying out 'first mile delivery'.
Not long ago, it was reported that Amazon spent a huge amount of $66.5 million to buy a piece of land and prepare to build a new distribution center. It is reported that Amazon plans to build the accessory center into a robot delivery center focused on "first mile delivery", introducing automated warehousing equipment and artificial intelligence devices.

According to Amazon, this will be its first first first mile robot delivery center in southwest Florida, expected to be officially operational in 2027.
It can be observed that more and more e-commerce platforms have recognized the importance of logistics and are beginning to invest heavily. It is currently unknown whether Wildberries' continued presence in Belarus will enable them to continue breaking through in the market, and it will be left to time to answer.
